It also prepared sets of pictures on popular subjects and undertook special photographic assignments for local businesses and government agencies. The images date between ca. 1850 and 1945; the bulk of the images were created between 1909 and 1932. Photo John I. Nolan and Jno. A. Jordan 1921. Granite Furniture West Jordan Utah

Granite Furniture West Jordan Utah

When I first was transferred to Utah, Granite Furniture had several stores in the area.

I liked them better than their main competitor RC Willy's which is owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire-Hathaway where you feel like you need to take a shower after walking through the place because of the high pressure sales force.

However, Granite fell on hard times and closed all but their Sugerhouse and West Jordan stores. Now the Sugerhouse store is closed leaving West Jordan as the last bastion of low pressure selling in the area.

However, if you look at the weeds around the sign, the condition of the sign, and the graffiti on the front of the building it looks like this places days are numbered also.

Someone had to think these were a good idea. I can't imagine why. They're inventive, sure, and must have been a lot of work to make. But... hollow "invisible men" hanging from the ceiling? Why?

(If it isn't obvious, most of these are presented rotated from how they appear in real life. I've inverted them to look as if they're standing on the ground, and the observer is looking "down" at them, but in fact nearly all of these photos were taken looking up.)
